About Me
I was born in 1948 on the Wirral Peninsular. the youngest of four children. I had at best a sketchy education leaving school at fifteen.
I worked as a gardener, attending Merris Wood agricultural college in Surrey where I obtained city and Guilds qualifications.
I spent a lot of time, in the late sixties, hitchhiking around England attending music festivals including the original Stones in the Park concert. I travelled to the Isle of White to see Dylan and Hendrix and many other venues.
Later on, I worked for various motor production companies. I eventually qualified as a driving instructor and worked in Stratford upon Avon and Warwick, though for thirty years I have drove a taxi in the Isle of Man. I retired in 2020 and spend most of my spare time writing.
I married my wife Susan in 1971 and have four sons and seven grandchildren.
I am a keen fly fisherman, and up until recently continued my interest in gardening on a small allotment.
I have always had an interest in the history of the British Isles, particularly Anglo Saxon and pre Roman societies, which I aim to write about at a later date.
